Tiernan's

Hi everyone, sorry for the crazy name, it was supposed to say Tiernan's Parents but I hit a bad key and ended up with just Tiernan's. Our son Tiernan was born on 1/12/08. He has slight micro on the right and severe (really small but there is a globe) on the left. Thankfully the pediatrician at the hospital noticed something and transferred us to Westchester Children's Hosp. It's tough to count the number of appointments we've been to (as most of you know) but so far we've seen an Occular-Plastics surgeon, a Cornea Specialist (right side is cloudy), Occularist and Geneticist. He's had a conformer on the left side for about 2 weeks now and is scheduled for an exam under anesthesia in March to hopefully determine what kind of sight he may have in the right eye. The occular-plastics doctor just called the other day and wants us to come in to talk with him about hydrogel inserts. I've seen a few posts about them and am wondering if anyone can tell us anything more about them, mainly success or recommendations. Also if anyone has had cornea problems and/or successes.

Thanks,
Mike & Julie O'Meara

Congrats on your newborn! and welcome to the ican Family. You asked about hydrogels. There is a thread on here titled "hydrogel surgery?" and one mom talks of her posiitive experience. Hope this is helpful to you.
