My nephew (Jacob - 2 weeks old) was born with a cleft lip and palate, the doctors are highly recommending they insert a feeding tube directly into his stomach. Their main concern is that Jacob receives the proper doses of his medicine. This would require another surgery in about a week and the recovery time is another week. Has anyone had this procedure done? Is it a big deal? Is there any important reason to opt out of this procedure?

Thanks,
Jenna

Hi! My daughter just turned two in February and she has had a feeding tube since she was about two weeks old or so. She has done wonderfully with it and we've had no problems. She also had a nissen when they inserted the button in her stomach to help with reflux. The most important thing I believe is keeping the site clean! Other than that it is relatively easy care and use. Good luck with your nephew. God Bless.

Hello... My son has a g-tube. Stephen got his first one at 1yrs old it was a bards. We had it for 11 years until he out grew it. Stephen is now 12 and we got a new one a mic-key. It works great. We haven't had any problems with either of them... When you give meds just make sure you flush the tube so jacob gets all his meds. Oh and don't forget to flush his gtube after feeding too.

thanks, tonja
