Wanted to share this beautiful peom that was posted on the Microphthalmia yahoo group.

HEAVENS VERY SPECIAL CHILD

A MEETING WAS CALLED QUITE FAR AWAY
"IT'S TIME TO PREPARE FOR ANOTHER BIRTH TODAY"
SAID THE ANGELS TO THE LORD ABOVE
"THIS SPECIAL CHILD WILL NEED MUCH LOVE
HIS PROGRESS MAY SEEM SO VERY SLOW
ACCOMPLISHMENTS HE MAY NEVER SHOW
AND HE WILL REQUIRE SOME EXTRA CARE
FROM THE FOLKS HE MEETS WAY DOWN THERE
HE MAY NOT LAUGH,OR RUN OR PLAY
HIS THOUGHTS MAY SEEM QUITE FAR AWAY
IN MANY WAYS HE WON'T "ADAPT"
THEY WILL CALL HIM "HANDICAPPED"
SO LET'S BE CAREFUL WHERE HE'S SENT
WE WANT HIS LIFE TO BE CONTENT
PLEASE LORD, FIND THE PARENT'S WHO WILL DO
A VERY SPECIAL JOB FOR US AND YOU
THEY WILL NOT REALIZE IT RIGHT AWAY
THE LEADING ROLE THEIR ASKED TO PLAY
BUT WITH A CHILD SENT FROM UP ABOVE
COMES STRONGER FAITH AND RICHER LOVE
AND SOON THEY WILL KNOW THE PRIVLEDGE GIVEN
IN CARING FOR THIS GIFT FROM HEAVEN
THEIR PRECIOUS CHARGE, SO MEEK AND MILD
IS HEAVEN'S VERY SPECIAL CHILD"

Hi Jodi,

I have been reading some of your posted and advise to other parents and I would love to talk to you more.

Mom son, Matthew, was three in March. He was born with Anophthalmia of his left eye. His right eye is fine. We see Dr. Katowitz at teh Children's Hosptial of Philadelphia. He has had several surgeries, one a dermo-fat graph and several hydro-gel implants. He is making progress in the physical shape of his left eye, slow but sure.

We recently got results from Dr. Snyder re: SOX-2. From what we have been told and what I read, so far there are only 11 positive sox-2 case in the study. Do you have more info on sox-2? Matthew does have mild symtoms, but we are very much interested in learning more. Thanks!
