How often to remove shell

I am sure it depends from occularist to occularist and person to person. Our son wears clear conformers in both eyes and we don't take them out unless we need to clean them which is not often. Maybe 1-2 times a month or again, more if necessary. Since its cold/flu season, he is getting several eye infections due to his cold/flu infections. He has bilat micro with some vision, so he has both eyes they are just small, which is probably why he does get infections, cause he has actual eyes under the conformer.
Hope this helps. We don't take them out very often. Not necessary in our situation.

My daughter is 2 years old. She has unilateral microphthalmia. Our occularist also asked us to remove it every 3-4 days. The first time we put the shell the experience was very bad. Her eyes were watering heavily. We could not take out or even put the shell by ourselves and had to take her to the clinic. She will not cooperate at all. I am worried if we have to remove this every 3-4 days then it will be an uphill task. Any help.
