Come hear why Dr. Nemeth's contributions to the blind community of the world are comparable to those of Louis Braille himself! Blind and visually impaired persons are underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professions and, through his creation of the Braille code for mathematics and scientific notation, Dr. Nemeth has allowed greater access for blind and visually impaired persons to more readily pursue career paths in these fields. During this presentation, you will also learn about how Dr. Nemeth was a trail blazer in the math profession , how the code has evolved over the twentieth century, and about his past relationships with famous blind persons, such as Helen Keller.
