Been trying to find a support site...hopefully this is it.

Daughter just born at 35 weeks and they said she has VSD, ASD, PDA, coloboma and Micro in both eyes, cleft lip/pallate (bilateral), and she failed her first two hearing test. CT scan of her brain did come back ok, which we are releived about. WHat are her chances of seeing anything?

Hi Matt,. you just emailed me as well but I wanted to post on here too. I have a son with bilateral micro and bilateral coloboma as well. Its hard to say right now if your daughter will have vision. At first we thought my son was pretty much blind or legally blind. We still dont know for sure but we do know he can see! It took 2 years of waiting and we finally were able to get the surgery to help open his eyes to know more. He is just starting to track toys and myself. I love seeing my son look up at me. Its a wonderful thing.

Most likely only time will tell with your daughter. SOmething most parents don't want to hear. Some kids get the conformers but my son never has. They said since he has vision he doesnt need them.

Any more questions ask away!

Look at some of the post on here about them. Or look it up online as well. I didn't know what they were either tell I was told Jake might have to get them.

hi matt

my daughter has microphthalmia in one eye and anophthalalmia in the other and with the microphthalmia side we've just discovered she can see bright lightsand maybe even shadows, as she gets older she'll be able to tell u better but my advice is to help stimulate her eyes with lots of bright lights etc we decorated our daughters cot with lots of bright rope lights and fibre optic lights. hope this is of some use to you matt
