There actually can be a link between unusual teeth and anophthalmia/micriphthalmia. The differences are varied and can be associated with other findings. If you want further information about this please contact, me, Tanya Bardajian, a Genetic Counselor who has experience with anopthalmia. You can call me at 215-456-8722 with questions.

My son Ian has problems with his teeth also. He had an extra baby tooth right in the middle in the front and when those came out he grew a permanent tooth there which was removed to make way for the two regular teeth that were growing behind it. Only one has come in so far (he is 9 and a half). The dentist says he will probably require major orthodontia. Ian was born with unilateral anophthalmia of the right eye. The right side of his face is obviously malformed. His nostril on that side is smaller than the other and his doctor said the eustachian tube on that side is smaller, too. They also speculate that he had cleft lip and palate in utero but that it closed before birth. All very interesting.
