We have a new baby girl,
Left with Anophthalmia & right with Microphtalmia - Cloudy Cornea..
Any suggestions for ocularist in our area,
we have shocked after hearing this.. this is our first baby, She looks really cute, upto today i collected all the info i can about this, i am visiting ocularist on 17th of this month..
Thanks,
Congratulations on the birth of your new baby girl!! We were not prepared for the anophthalmia when our son was born nearly eight years ago-it was a shock-time helps. Hang in there. If you go to www.ocularist.org they have a tab for "find an ocularist". If you would like information mailed to your home please call the ican 800 number and leave your home address and we will mail a new family packet to you or you can call the number and a parent volunteer will return your call.
Enjoy your newborn.

Congratulations on your new baby- what is her name? I remember those first days like they were yesterday. :( Your next months will be full of worries, concerns and appointments. You are doing the right thing by reaching out to others. As far as an ocularist, besides the website, you can ask your opthamologist to recommend one. You should have many options in your area. I don't know how far Chicago is from you it has many choices. Make sure you have one that is patient and will take all the time you need to answer your questions. If you're not happy with one, keep looking. They are very important to your childs care and you want one you are comfortable with. I have a son that is 17 months that has bilat micro. He has done amazingly well despite those inital expectations of the doctors. Stay hopeful and you will be amazed at what your daughter can do and how much you will love her. :) If you want, you can email me at aprilk24@yahoo.com.

Congrats on your baby girl! You will be amazed at how you can love something so much. You are going to be her best advocate, so if you feel you are not getting the proper attention or treatment you have to speak up for her sake. This website has helped me with so much. Tanya has also been a very big help. She has got me in touch with services that I did not know about and that the pediatrician didn't even refer me to. Keep your head up and stay strong, it gets better. I cried and cried for weeks after the birth of my daughter who is now 4 months, but things are looking up. The people on this website are great, you came to the right place!
