Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to this site, and I have a question or 2 that I'm hoping maybe someone out there can answer for me. I just ask that you forgive my spelling (it's 4:30 am and I'm typing in the dark).

My daughter was born almost 2 months ago and originally diagnosed with bilateral micropthalmia. We took her into the specialist, and his diagnosis was slightly different. She does have bilateral micropthalmia, however he said it was very "minor", small by only a millimeter, maybe 2. He diagnosed her with a condition called "blepherofamosis" (OK, I know that can't be spelled right and it DOES sound like something from a Harry Potter movie). Has anyone out there ever heard of this? I have every confidence in my doctor, I just really want more info on it, and I can't seem to find anything about it online (that might have something to do with my spelling of the word). Does anyone know of a site where I can find more info on it? LOL or at the very least does anyone have the correct spelling of the word so I can look it up myself? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hi! Congratulations on your new baby girl! It's so scary when someone tells you something is wrong with your child. THe spelling based on what you wrote looks like it should be blepharophimosis. I searched it real quick and a lot of info came up. At quick glance, your daughters future looks promising. Hang in there. Hope you find what you need and keep us posted. April

April,

Thanks so much! I'm usually good at spelling, however medical terms can be spelled so many ways and usually sound nothing like the spellings. She goes in for her first surgery tomorrow morning, so I'll keep you updated. Thanks you again!!!
