Hey! JUst wondering if anyone out there has had experience with conformers in a somewhat seeing eye? Our son Mason is 18months and wears bilat clear conformers for micro. We believe that he can see a little out of his right eye. He is seeing colors and some small objects when he uses his vision and is paying attention. We're wondering if the conformers could be limiting any vision. Of course, when we put the conformer up to our eyes, it is very blurry and distorted. But, we're wondering if he can see what he sees with it in, what could he see with it out? The conformers do help to hold the lids up so we're not sure if they could even be helping his vision? Due to the fact that they are difficult to remove and replace, we haven't tried testing him both ways. Does anyone have experience with this? Appreciate any advice. Thanks April

Sorry that I don't have any good answers to your post. Just not an issue we've had with Wyatt. Hopefully someone will speak up to you question. Wondering if you've asked the ocularist or ped. ophthalmologist? They might be able to give some answers.
Take Care,
Jodi

Hi April
Sorry again for delayed post. I don't believe that the clear conformer is hindering vision at all. IF anything its magnifying it. Think of them as contacts or glasses. To us it appears distorted because we don't have the same vision as our kids with bilat micro. Our son has had clear conformers since 5 mos of age and then glasses. He is now 5years old. He can see without his conformer (right eye only) but not as well with the conformer and glasses. I honestly don't believe the clear shells are hindering or blocking vision, but don't really know for sure. I do know that my 5 year old can tell me he sees better with all his eye stuff in. And our occularist and opthal say the conformer adds magnification just like glasses.

Good luck

Thanks for the info. It makes me feel a lot better. We do feel like the conformers seem to help him but we were nervous that we could be wrong and could actually be limiting it. Out of curiosity, does your son wear glasses for safety or to improve his vision? The opthamologist tried to see if glasses would improve his vision but were unable to get the retina flashback to test. When did he get the glasses? Thanks- Jalen sounds a lot like Mason and your postings have helped me a lot. April:)
