Default ideas to help 7yo with small eye

I have just joined ican. I live in Sydney. I have a 7yo daughter with a small eye. She has just got a new shell, not having worn one for quite a long time (we had to wait a while before she could be measured for a new one; then after the easing in period we lost the new one; then we had to wait again before she could be measured again...). She hates wearing the shell; hates having a small eye and wishes she hadn't been born.

I have resorted to giving her a sweet every time I put the shell in, but she is more or less demanding a sweet in her mouth the entire time the shell is in and it is getting a bit crazy. I need to build up to her having it in for a whole day so she can wear it to school but it is taking a long time. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can speed up the process relatively smoothly I would love to hear them.

But most importantly, I would love to hear from parents who have somehow imparted to their daughters that they are still beautiful with their small eye; that things will get easier for them; that it is not a question of mother nature (or god) being fair or unfair as I am beginning to despair that I can make my daughter resilient enough to accept this.
