ican Stories - Madilyn's Story

Hi!

My name is Madilyn and I was born with bilateral anophthalmia. I am two years old now. I also have been diagnosed with Arrhinia Syndrome, which means my nose and other facial features didn't fully develop. Since I can't breathe through my nose, I had a trach placed when I was one month old. Now that I'm bigger, I just had it removed this July! I am doing well and very excited!

I spend most of the time with my Mommy and my grandparents. While my mom goes to school and works, I attend a great preschool where I get all my therapy. I can drink out of my own cup and eat baby food. I can also stand up with a little help. I love music and I can sing lots of songs! My favorite is "Deep and Wide" and "BINGO."

I hope everyone enjoys ican as much as my mom and I do! Keep in touch everyone!
Love, Madilyn Welch
